She even comes with service history to substantiate the mileage; remember the W460 only has a five digit odometer, so some can appear to have done a low mileage, but in reality may have done 100k, 200k or even 300k more miles than the odometer reads. This G-Wagen was taken as part of a debt by my paint and bodywork man back in 2018. The customer whom he's started the restoration for, eventually ran out of money, so couldn't afford to pay his spiralling bill, so the only way out for him was to use the car itself as payment, so a deal was done, and the ownership transferred. The restoration then continued, with a further £5000 being spent in just parts alone to finish it. As he was now doing the job for himself, he couldn't cost in his time, but he estimates given the many hours this took, the cost of the full restoration if this had been done for a paying customer would have been between £10K-12K. The result is just fantastic. it also has the added benefit that as the job was done for himself, he's went that extra mile. Some may remember I previous advertised this G-Wagen in 2022, after which is when it was bought by a local solicitor, who has in his two year ownership lavished a further £7K on this G-Wagen; the result is I think makes it one of the best of its type. The universally positive attention this car creates is quite incredible, even young kids know what it is. The W460 has always been my favourie incarnation of the G-Wagen as it was the one that was closest to its roots as a utilitarian vehicle; sure its not as refined to drive as the later W463 incarnations, but there’s something incredibly satisfying about driving a "proper G-Wagen" Its also much simpler to work on , and although quite agricultural in its nature, the OM617 5-Cylinder diesel will probably outlast its owner. Its also worth mentioning in these times of spiralling fuel costs, that this engine will happily run on vegetable oil, and could potentially save you a fortune. So if you're after one of these most sought after vehicles, and dont want to fall into the restoration trap, then this is for you. You may ask why the current owner wants to sell, well it’s the usual lack of space and use problem, and now his daughter wants a car as she’s just gone 17, they wont be room for this. The price is £29,995, not a penny less. You simply will not find any decent G-Wagen’s for less than £30K these days; if you don’t believe me, just have a look. Please note this is a no offers price; you will struggle to find a Mercedes G-Wagen of this calibre at that kind of money. These now iconic vehicles are better than money in the bank.
